Losing someone who has played a Big Role in our life is never easy, including Politicians who have fought hard for our rights and well-being.
On January 13, Residents of Gdańsk, Poland, were shocked and heartbroken when their beloved Mayor Paweł Adamowicz was Attacked on Stage during a Live Charity Event. The 53-year-old passed away from his injuries on the following day. Saying that he will be dearly missed is just an understatement, as evidenced by the Thousands who attended Public Vigil on the Day of his Death.

About 16,000 people gathered in Gdańsk’s Old Town on January 14 to Pay Tribute to their Fallen Leader, who served as Mayor for more than 20 years. A hush swept over the somber crowd as Disturbed Vocalist David Draiman’s Voice began playing over the loudspeaker, captivating the grieving audience.
David’s Rendition of “The Sound of Silence” gave the Song new meaning as it rang out over the Mourners. His bittersweet crooning perfectly echoed for them what words could not quite reach: the Deep Sorrow caused by the Tragic Assassination.
Polish Reporter Maciej Bąk described the Atmosphere best that night, writing that the performance left “shivers all over the body.” The Lyrics were particularly touching, almost emulating the mayor’s presence among the silent assembly:
And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence.
Mr. Adamowicz left behind his Wife, Magdalena Abramska, and their 2 Daughters, Antonina and Teresa. Though he has gone now, we are certain his Kind, Generous Spirit will live on in the Hearts of People across Poland. Rest in Peace, Mr. Adamowicz. You will never be forgotten.
